‘United we are Strong’ switchplate decoration Instructions
- This foam decoration is designed for a standard 2.75 X 5 inch electrical switch plate.
- Prepare templates for the Short and Long puzzle pieces: Cut strips of cardboard 12 inch X 1.4 inch. Use an Exacto knife to cut the notches as illustrated in the photograph in Figure 1. The notches fit exactly into the tabs and when the four pieces are put together, a rectangular hole which is slightly larger than 2.75 inch X 5 inch is formed.
- Cut two Long pieces and two Small pieces for each child from four different primary color foam sheets using a paper cutter to make the strips and an Exacto knife to cut the notches.
- Mark up ‘United’, ‘We are’ and ‘Strong’ on three of the strips in each set such that they can be fit to form the square structure.
- Instruct the kids to place the four pieces on the floor with the written side facing up and put the pieces together to form the rectangular structure. Use long pieces of stick tape on the BACK to stick the foam pieces together.
- Send instructions to the parents to glue the structure around an electrical switchplate at home that the child uses frequently.
- The colors and pieces can be used for counting up to four and saying the names of the colors in Sanskrit.
