The purpose of this Activity is to hold the children's attention for an additional length of time to reinforce the concept being taught that day.
1. The Art or Craft is chosen so that it is related to the Story of the day. It provides an opportunity to move around the class talking to the children and asking questions which will make the children think about the concept or analyse the concept that was addressed in the Story.
2. The Activity is also designed to support other concepts being taught in the class. For example, the biḍālah activity supports the Mother Holdra's Tonic story because kindness expressed to a cat earns rewards for the heroine of the story It also supports teaching the names of animals and the activity can be used as an opportunity to teach names of other animals in Sanskrit. It can also be used as an opportunity to remind the children about colors in Sanskrit, since there is a white cat in the story.
3. The activity provides a relaxed and enjoyable element in the class. It ties all the concepts taught in the class together and results in something for the child to take home to the family and hopefully continue the discussion of the class topic at home.
